Sounds like a lot of money considering this is what Hegarty values 1974 V6 for

Current Values

#1 Concours$11,200
Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best vehicle, in the right colors, driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the vehicle has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. The one word description for #1 vehicles is "concours."
#2 Excellent$7,700
#3 Good$4,900
#4 Fair$2,600

I've always found Hagerty's values to be optimistic.

Can one of you experts tell me why this isn't a Mercury Capri? Weren't they sold under the Mercury brand in the USA in those years? Thanks.

Hi Fred,
In Europe, there never was a Mercury dealer network or Lincoln dealer network. So in Eu they are Ford Capri. In North America they were sold in Mercury dealerships and are known as Mercury Capri.

Merry Christmas too All,
Bob

So is the car advertised above one that was sold in Europe as a Ford and later imported to the USA?

It is a American spec car with the federal bumpers, side marker lights, bolt on head rests, and no FORD emblem on the boot and bonnet that I can see. It still may have been ordered and delivered in Europe by an American buyer to avoid paying the duty taxes. My Cortina (US spec) was ordered and delivered in the UK by a gentleman from California. He took delivery of it in the UK, traveled around for about 7,000 miles then imported it to the US to avoid some sort of tax. I don't know what the tax was or amount.

This Capri is 1/2hr from where I live so if anyone needs to have some eyes put on it let me know.

This is just a US sold Mercury Capri -
the seller just listed it as a Ford Capri, that's all.
