Rare 1950 English Ford Thames - $19500 (North Texas)

1950 Thames 9900km
Trans:
Manual
Condition:
Mint
Exterior:
British Racing Green and Black
Interior:
Black
Description: This extremely rare, very low usage (under 9900km) English Ford 1/4 ton export LHD Thames delivery is arguably the finest in existence. Draws crowds at car shows. Originally from Canada, it was used by Firestone as a show car to demonstrate new tires at auto shows. Purchased from an extensive private collection around 2006, it has been lightly mechanically restored with a new head gasket, generator, 6v battery, and a water pump. Maintenance parts are readily available at several US suppliers. The truck is unmolested in every way, and is in perfect condition just as it rolled off she showroom floor in 1949-1950. All details are intact and show very little wear, if any. Obviously stored in a protected, climate controlled environment, this Thames has a custom John Bull Racing custom fitted cover from England with THAMES written on each side. It starts easily and rapidly with the choke, all interior dash gauges are intact and operate, and the original red kerosene road flares are as new and mounted in the rear of the cabin. Drives as new, shifts easily, brakes and steers perfectly. All exterior lights work, as well as the delicate windshield wiper on the drivers side. Slide clear Perspex Windows, a flip up windshield, and side manual air vents add to the charm of this rare vehicle. All wood, rubber, grommets, bakelite, canvas, and paper used in the construction of this vehicle are in excellent condition. There is absolutely no rust anywhere and the undercarriage retains its black glossy paint finish. $24,500 NOW REDUCED TO $19,500. To buy the finest in existence of any unusual model such as this is a bargain.

It is very nice indeed and good to see an original van that has escaped the hot rodders and drag racers attention. I note that the price has been reduced to $19,500, still high but try and find another like it.
