|
|
Does anyone have any recommendations as far as shipping a car from the States to Canada?? There is a vehicle that I am considering to buy in California and I am wondering what the best way is to ship it and what the costs might be to get it to B.C. Canada or the border?? I have never done cross border shopping before. _________________ Anglia 100e modified

I've done a couple, albeit the other way round, and have had great success with Selwyn at AA Auto Transport.

Thanks for the shipping tip, I did give them a call. I just wanted to get a rough idea on shipping costs for that Riley One Point Five that is currently on BAT, those cars have always been close to my heart but I am thinking it is more trouble than it's worth. I am still tempted to bit but the costs add up quickly to get it back here. _________________ Anglia 100e modified

If you've wanted one, that is the one to buy. I am sorely tempted myself. _________________ the older i get,the faster i went... |

The Riley is currently at $6000, buy the time I convert to Canadian, add shipping, taxes and brokerage it is around $11000 Canadian. I suspect the auction will go higher still??
Here is another car that is local to me but I missed the boat on it, it has been converted to MGB power and the body was fully restored a few years ago. The seller was asking $14000 Canadian but I don't know what he actually settled for?

I would not be surprised if the 1.5 didn't get closer to $8K. If I didn't have 5 vehicles right now I would pay $7K for it... _________________ the older i get,the faster i went... |

I did think about that possibility too, it would be a short flight down and a long drive home. The Riley is now near 7 grand U.S. so I will save my money to buy some needed parts for my Anglia. I have a fairly large shopping list for Burtons in the U.K. that includes a lot of crossflow bits.
I wonder what the final out come will be for the auction??

Yes, I watched the closing 10 minutes of the auction. I like the "anti-sniping" feature that BAT uses, if a bid is placed in the last minute the auction automatically extends for two more minutes giving the other bidders a chance to respond.
I wonder what the reserve was? _________________ Anglia 100e modified

Thank you for the tip but that is sort of a different league of vehicle compared to the Magnette or One Point Five. A friend of mine has one of those up here on the Coast, it is a beautiful car but not my cup of tea. _________________ Anglia 100e modified

I wonder if that was a 1.5L or 2.5L and if he still has the original engine...lovely twin cam unit.
