Looks like a fairly clean body, it sort of reminds me of this 2 door I bought in the late 1970s for $125.00 that had a similar vibration, it turned out to be just a u-joint. I ended up putting a modified 2 litre Pinto engine in it, sadly I was cut off one day that resulted in this.

Yes, the perfect indentation of a telephone pole, was either that or hitting him head on as he veered into my lane.

These days your MK2 would be considered repairable. In those days we just paid our 25 cents and looked in the Buy and Sell for another one. Might even have to go all the way up to $300.00 for a really clean one.

I don't know how repairable it was as I am not a body man, I do remember though that the hit was very near the front end of the frame rail and that caused the floor at the passenger side foot area to wrinkle a fair bit. You are right though, there was always a selection of inexpensive Cortina's for sale in the Buy&Sell.
