This was one of the car I did in Germany with my dad, it took about one year to do as we always had a few project going at the same time. Plus customer cars had to be done Monday - Friday, it was really nice when finished and it really hurt when I sold it to move to the States.
A 1966 Lotus Cortina which had been raced in England, the body was shot from many years of racing. After seaching for about six months I found someone in Austria that said he would try and find a good body for me. Three month later I was on my way to pick up a near perfect body with almost no rust.
Back to the bare metal
The Cortina was set up as a Road Racer
I never got to run the car around the track or on the road, it did end up going to a German Lotus colletor

Here are some more picture's of the Lotus Cortina.
As you can see this was a very nice body shell.
This was the original car and as you can see it was done, every panel on the car was bent even the roof.

I forgot my dad Roy Morris, did run the original car at Hockenheim at there first drag race in 1986 which was 1/8 mile, they needed to fill the stock class so we entered it. I also rememeber takening the new one (body) to Nurnburgring to a historic race car event just before I moved to the states, to see if we could sell it, at least I got to drive it around the pits there.
My dad ran another one way back in the early 70's in England at Santa Pod Raceway, which is also a Drag strip in England that still runs today.
This is the only picture I have of this Escort we used back in 1982 as a workshop car, plus we used it at the race track as you can see.
It was a 1300cc
Next is a RS2000 with factory metal wheel arch extension as they were called in England. I purchased it from a friend who ran it for about a year then wanted something different. I repainted it bright red, put new tires on it and drove it on weekend.
I used this 1980 Transit in 1990 and 91 to tow my race car car, it had a 3litre V6 essex motor with overdrive.

Hi Dave A, we don't see any here in Florida. In the 17 years I've been here, I've seen a MK1 Cortina, MK2 Cortina and a Carpi (1970). I'm thinking about buuying a 100E but need to go and look at it.

Tony,
We were in Florida in 2007,visiting our Son in
Jacksonville. While there I was fortunate to be able to
see Ross Bremer's fantastic collection of vintage cars.
He vintage races,& has an Anglia,MKI Cortina,MKI Escort,
& a MKI Cortina that he raced at the Speedweek in the
Bahamas,back in '65 or '66.
I also went to see a friend in Brandon, near Tampa.
He's a former Lotus mechanic,& had a Lotus Cortina.

My dad ran this works Road Race Tuner in the mid 60's
As some of you may know these came with the BMC motor from the little AH Spite's. Well he change it to a Ford kent motor and bore it out to a 1750.
The next picture's were taken around 1965-66 when my dad and his shop formen Alan who ran the Anglia rented Silverstone for the day.
These were taken at Brands Hatch 1967-68 you will also notice that he had to change the front wings (fenders), as the rules change and stated that they had to be like the road cars.
This is in the pits at Brand Hatch
Not sure where this one is taken

Great photos especially of Brands. I started going to Brands in 1968 as a 13yo schoolboy, used to catch the Green Line bus from Eltham and have a great day at the track. I must have seen your dad racing as I used to go virtually every weekend from 1968 until the mid 70s. I even used to get a season ticket as a Christmas present. Still go there especially if historic racing is on.
