So this weeks adventure found me bringing home an unidentified 4 cyl engine and trans.
I'm thinking Enford, but which one?

It has a Zenith 30 VIG carb and a Lucas DM2 distributor
I can get block and trans casting numbers if that would help.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Some kind of Kent -- maybe an early one? _________________ European Ford Collector |

well.. decoding the dist numbers leads me to think 59-60 Hillman Minx.
Lucas DM2P4
40681A T121 859
Along with a Zenith 30VIG carb
Is this a Smith's EasyDrive? or just a standard with too many attachments?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's not an English Ford engine. It does look like a Rootes Group engine as fitted to Hillman Minxes, Singer Gazelles/Vogues & Sunbeam Rapiers/Alpines. I've never seen a Ford engine with a left side starter nor an oil filter like that either.

It's definitely a Rootes Group engine as fitted to models of Hillman/Singer/Sunbeam/Humber. |

Now that you mention it, the block does look pretty similar to my 64' Sunbeam Alpine....I'll see if I can find anything on the numbers.
