Well I finally found a White mk2 that seemed worth spending the time on (no rust)
Hard to believe that someone at some point in its life tried to connect a trailer hitch to the bumper and use the stock bumper to tow with.
After a pull on the frame machine and eight hours of work I think I have it straight again
next is the front fender (30 year old bondo)
looking good 14 may2011

Now the body is straight, I need to drop the engine/front suspension, pull all the glass/trim and paint it about a weeks worth of work.............be interesting to see how long it takes me. I can stall a bit because I'm installing a Cage and plan on tiying it into the a/b pillars. 5 april 2011

I used the old mk2 shell to bend/fit it I hope it slips in nice and easy.
Was thinking about painting it white (body color) but black makes it dissapear
Installed and two days of painting it white........what a pain trying to get at all the angles, I should have painted the roll bar out of the car painted the interior then assembled.lesson learned
The yellow in the momo seat set the mark for the interior

the picture does not do the engine bay justice.........it looks great
The Suspension is all Whiteline
SHORT BLOCK IS IN, I USED ARP STUDS FROM JAE
WAITING FOR THE HEAD I DECIDED TO DO IT RIGHT AND THE STAINLESS VALVES ARE A LITTLE SLOW SHOWING
PRETTY SURE IT WILL BE CLOSE TO 10:1 COMPRESSION SO I GUESS IT WILL BE PREMIUM GAS FROM NOW ON
now that fills up the engine bay, I see why they used the over the top air cleaner..........hope this does not rattle on the inner fender well

It looks sharp, Mike. Milton will be surprised to see what you've done to it. |

Really looking good. I agree, it sits a bit too high. _________________ Bayless
