|

Since the drivetrain is out and bits are dangling in the air I thought now would be a good time to investigate converting to rack and pinion.
I'm fine with the current steering but I suspect that going to rack and pinion will free up a little space (which I need for the Honda S2000 drivetrain I am wedging into the engine bay) and would give me some options on the location of some of the steering parts.
Couple of potential problem..
1. the car is LHD
2. I don't have access to Escorts and the like (there are about 5 Escorts in North America and two of them are RHD).
Any suggestions? |

Sideways,
I read a few blogs from the uk on this subject the other day and while most guys were using mk1 escort crossmember and steering rack there was a guy that had done several conversions on mk1 cortinas using a Capri crossmember and steering rack. He claimed it puts the struts at a better angle than the escort crossmember. Looking at the track width of a mk1 Capri compared to the cortina it looks pretty close. |

Yea I thought about that that too, but Capri stuff is even harder to find than Pinto or Mustang ll.. I'll need to figure something out also because the Miata motor I'm using for my MK1 is rear sump as well _________________ 1962 Lotus 7
