Is it a fake or real Lotus Cortina?

At one time they could be done as you say. At the moment the cost to "fake" a Lotus Cortina would most likely cost more than to buy one. I think the word is out that there were never that many LoCorts in the U.S., either Ford imported cars or the ones that were brought in before by individuals. If your definition of fake means painting a sherwood green "flash" stripe on an ermine white Deluxe then you need to do some homework. If you can't tell the difference between the two, you should find a person that knows what the changes were and give them a couple of dollars for there time and saving you many dollars. That said a nice Deluxe will bring quite a few dollars in its own right.

A nice 66 with a Fiat twin cam sold up here for just under 14K.. It was pretty nice though..
