Lug nuts torque specs
Lug nuts torque specs
Strange, I can not find any information in any repair books regarding the lug nut torque specs for a Cortina MK1/2 or 105E. It just mentions tighten the lug nuts. Would anybody know the torque specs.

Modern cars are tightened up at considerably higher rates. The only info I could find about our type of cars was on a hot rod forum where one commenter wrote this,
Here are the proper dry torques for the different sizes of studs:7/16-inch diameter 50 to 60 lb-ft; 12mm diameter 70 to 80 lb-ft;1/2-inch diameter 80 to 90 lb-ft; 5/8-inch diameter 110 to 125 lb-ft.
That being said, a lot of people like that 75lbs number as well.

So today torqued the lug nuts to 50 lbs. EnFo 5" crank wrench barely loosened
the nut had to press my foot to aid loosening a couple. Had enough strength to
loosen with the EnFo 8" wrench. No way anyone would be able to loosen the lug nuts if torqued > 60 lbs and then loosen the nuts with these wrenches.
