Hey, I see radiator top hose on ebay (Pete) that looks like it connects directly to the cylinder head. My 300E head has a connector attached to it (onto which the hose attaches). My parts books shows that connnector (8250) also. Does anyone know what the deal is with the differences? (I tried sending a PM to Pete, but I don't think my messages go through -- still sitting in my Outbox.) Thanks.

I think that is the very early type, I ended up with a few of those in my pars collection but my 100es have all used the later more conventional type with a cast thermostat housing. Here is a bit out of my old parts book.

Ah. That would explain it. Thanks.

Hi Fred,
Brett answered your question.
Reason i didn't receive your pm is that my pm folder was full. It only allows 50 saved messages so i deleted most of it.

There is one thing I want to try if I can find my old style hoses again, I want to cut the hose to see if the old one can then work with the cast housing?

Another way would be to make a 1/4" thick flange, similar to a muffler flange, p/n: 100E-8250. You won't need E13-MB-1. No cutting necessary.
Problem with later cast iron housing flanges they can corrode over time causing leaks.

They're different internal diameters at the point where the old one meets the cast housing.Brett Wilkie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 10:19 am There is one thing I want to try if I can find my old style hoses again, I want to cut the hose to see if the old one can then work with the cast housing?

Thanks JAN, that answers that question. I have a feeling that I may have discarded those old style hoses some time ago?
