I could sit and watch this kind of racing all day..
Ditto - and during this Covid thing I have been doing a great deal of that!

Saw my first real race in the early '60s and will watch almost any kind of racing but I still prefer "this kind of racing" every time.

Re: New Toy - Mk1 Cortina Wagon - drivetrain options?

Any progress? Due to a cancer situation in the family, (not me) I put it on hold. Now that things are settled and the cancer is in remission I have decide that another crazy build is not doable. The last one took 7 years to complete and if I took the same amount of time with this one, I would be in...

He has now changed the ad to read Deluxe, not GT. Must have heard from someone and gotten a clue.
Gary
I sent him a quick email to "update" his info...said he doesn't really know much about "these" cars. :D

Isn't that Fred's old Cortina that had a Fiat engine originally?
That's the one, then I tried all of the following drivetrains (put them in place etc) before settling on the S2000 as the weapon of choice
Zetec
Miata
K24DE
SHO (Gen1)
Pinto

Should never have sold it. :(

Re: 1951 Ford Prefect - $8800 (Kerrisdale)

That's my old neighbourhood and that car is now in it's second year of being for sale, it is hard to imagine that it will sell anytime soon with this Covid-19 thing depressing the market. All the local car shows are canceled until further notice. That's the one I had for a while and is a really goo...

Yeah but its made the page unreadable. On this 1 page alone there was 4 adds, after every second comment. Screws up the flow of the comments.
I saw the same thing - and simply scrolled past the ads.

Or to put it better, I "flowed" past the ads.

As I noted elsewhere, the "1967" rally car is clearly pre-airflow so how can it be a 67?

I should by the 'suspect' ones - the wagon being the most obvious non Lotus and then sue Sothebys for misrepresenting the cars.

The settlement should pay for the cars plus a nice vacation. :D

Re: Four Cortinas from the mid 60s will be sold at Sotheby's in Oct.

I preferred it when they were Lotus Cortinas, not Lotus Cortina by Ford and certainly not Ford Lotus Cortina

And calling that station wagon a Lotus is just plain daft, regardless of how many lotus bits are on it.

Rant over...for now. :D

Re: Mk1 Cortina Vancouver Island $12.500

I have had a few turbo cars and enjoyed them but one of these days I will stick a supercharger on some engine. I like the methodology behind them - and the noise.

Hmmm, wonder if they have a bolt-on for the Kent engine.

Re: Mk1 Cortina Vancouver Island $12.500

You didn't initially say what vintage of BMW you wife drives, I know that BMW has made leaps and bounds with their 4 cylinder engines in recent years but I am not up to speed on their advancements since I retired from the Vancouver Dealership in 2012 after 35 years of wrenching there. I know that t...

Re: Mk1 Cortina Vancouver Island $12.500

I have toyed with the idea of putting my BMW engine in my Green Anglia. I have been driving this 1995 318Ti for 15 years now and it is starting to rust a little bit, the 1800cc engine though puts out about 210 HP and it certainly makes the Ti fly as well as a 6 cylinder Beemer. I modded the cars en...

Re: Mk1 Cortina Vancouver Island $12.500

Wow! A 328i engine and autobox in a Cortina, how big is your shoe horn? The BMWs do have nice running gear though and pretty reliable too, I wonder what he would take for that 4 door. I just had a long text/chat with him and he is absolutely no hurry whatsoever - he has the Enfo disease being an ex...
