Re: Where to look/who to ask for 3.7 rear ends?

Yeah, that's a good point. I'll look for Elan-specific stuff also.

Re: Where to look/who to ask for 3.7 rear ends?

Yeah, the 3.9 appears to be the common ratio but I've never looked much for a 3.7 up to this point so I don't have a frame of reference really. The Burton stuff may be fine for the street; I just know the surface hardening doesn't appear to be up to the task for racing. I can definitely understand w...

Where to look/who to ask for 3.7 rear ends?

Hi everyone, I'm on the lookout for a few used 3.7 ring and pinion sets (or whole differential units) for a few of the race cars we care for. They use the Anglia/Cortina English Ford rear end. I know Burton and others have new sets, but I've heard mixed reviews and in a race context the apparently t...

Even never having seen them racing in period, I feel like the Alan Mann cars have a certain mystique to them. The immediately-recognizable livery, the history of success with various cars, and Tivvy's connection to the team have always caused me to hold them in high regard. I've seen Ross Bremer's A...

Tivvy made a brochure for the car with a lot of info, pictures, and some really interesting documents. I've scanned it and I'll post the pages here. Enjoy! http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii482/ELVA164/Shop%20cars/Scan.jpeg http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii482/ELVA164/Shop%20cars/Scan%201.j...

If you can message me the full story in an add format with the Sellers contact info, I can copy and paste it to the right people. Will do, thanks! That Escort brings back memories of watching them race back in 1968/9 at Brands Hatch and Crystal Palace here in England. Frank Gardner won the 1968 Bri...

I like the Escort, I came close to buying a proper track prepared twin cam back in the mid 70s. What are the specs on this particular car and of coarse the asking price? A car like this should be almost able to sell itself if it is reasonably priced. It's AMR #8, built in 1969 and shipped to the U....

I could use some help for a friend

Hey folks! One of my good friends and a fellow shop owned is named Tivvy Shenton, and he is a bona fide racing legend. Some of you may know him. He apprenticed at Rolls Royce, worked for Alan Mann Racing and Broadspeed, and formed his own race team before leaving the U.K. and coming to the U.S. in '...

Some good exposure for our shop and for vintage racing!

One of the developers of Forza Motorsport, a racing game I play, saw a post I made about vintage racing and our shop in particular and said he'd love to write something up about us. After we answered some questions and shared some photos, he released an article! http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/...

Thanks for posting. Usually i don't watch a complete you tube racing video but in this case it was thrilling enough to watch it thru the end. Thanks, I'm glad to hear that! I do struggle with how to edit the races and keep them both watchable and coherent. It's even tougher because I enjoy the stuf...

A win for the little guy!

This is probably the most exciting race I've had to date. It's a classic David and Goliath battle between me in the Cortina and a 1977 NASCAR Olds Cutlass, showing how hugely different cars can end up performing almost identically. It was a race-long battle and even I didn't know how it was going to...

Anyone going to Lime Rock? Some onboard Cortina footage

This is the first of two videos I'm putting together from this past June at Lime Rock in the Cortina. We had just installed all-new suspension so I was a bit reserved, but I had a great time working through the field after starting in pit lane! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NmTqd0pmk0 Anyone goin...

Thank you! I was a bit apprehensive about the length; did you feel the video dragged at all and if so when?

A New Race Video and a Request!

Hey everyone! I'm trying to use my new Youtube channel not only to share onboard footage as often as I can, but also to help promote the shop a bit and get people interested in vintage racing. I'd love your help if you could watch the video and provide input about if I'm on the right track (hah.). I...

Since we leave for Sebring this morning, it seemed like as good a time as any to share the updated version of my video! I had a few ideas about what to change. I've added info about the driver, track, and car featured in the video; I added a short plug for the shop at the beginning with a link; and ...
