Re: Cortina MKII Zetec Conversion
Nice conversion and nice looking Cortina. I am getting ready to do a swap in my 1969 Cortina Mk2 Estate. Crate 2.0l Zetec, same Ashley header, but going ITBs. Using Jenvey throttle bodies and Motorsport Electronics ME221 with their pre-made harness. I paid for the RetroFord water rail because I wan...

Re: Cortina MKII Zetec Conversion
Zetec is an excellent choice, light weight and an easy doubling of the power of the original engine without any negative impact on the driveability plus the ability to hang a variety of 5 speed trans on them. Being a Mk1 "lover" I never took to the Mk2 even though it was a superior car in...

Re: Cortina MKII Zetec Conversion
I like the idea of the Zetec, I have often thought about one for my 100e. Did you find it expensive to convert the cooling for inline engine use and I am wondering what diff you are using, is it this one? I have been thinking about getting one? https://www.burtonpower.com/quaife-atb-differential-en...

Cortina MKII Zetec Conversion
Hi all, I've been off this forum for a nearly a couple of years. Since my last time, I've have completed my Zetec conversion and other bits and pieces. It is driven almost everyday, rain or shine and even sees gravel. It is definitely not perfect, but it allows me to drive the car in all conditions ...

Daniel, When you say you've tried every trick to remove the bleeder screws, what exactly did you try? A 16P caliper is the same regardless of where it comes from. A 16PB will differ in both fitting size (10mm metric vs. 3/8-24)) and bolt hole mounting size (diameter - special caliper bolts required...

Cortina MK2 Brake Calipers
Hi there, Recently I have been tried to bleed my brakes. Unfortunately both the bleeders snapped right in half. Used every trick I knew to try and get out what was stuck in the caliper with no luck. The stamping on my calipers is Type 16P. I realize there is a Type 16PB and the later Metric M16. Fir...

Well, the original generator for a 1969 cortina was only 25 amps. So depending on the electrical load you add, will tell you if 43amps is enough. So how many amps is the ECU, I wouldn't think it would be a lot. But electric cooling fans or a big stereo could add a lot of electrical load. I don't be...

Zetec Alternator
Hi guys, I'm building the Zetec for my Cortina was wondering about the alternator. I've read that the factory Zetec 110 amp alternator which I was planning on using will not work without the factory Ford ECU. I have the alternator on the x-flow which I can make to fit but it outputs 43 amps. Would 4...

Zetec swap
I've been thinking about doing a zetec swap on my Mk2 Cortina but don't know much about it. I want something a little more modern with some power along with it and this has been on my mind for a while. I know it's been done plenty of times before and I have done some research. I've gotten as far as ...

Looks like the tank was full of crud and just restricted the flow of fuel. Thought the lines weren't clogged but looks like I was wrong. Had the tank sent out and came back looking brand new, changed all the lines and replaced the fuel filters and added an extra one. Flow is much better than it was ...

Fuel pump
Was driving along and the car started bogging down and eventually died. It started up a couple times but kept dying everytime afterwards to a point where it wouldn't start up again. I undid the fuel line to the carburetor and nothing was coming out so I had it towed home. Figured the fuel pump was t...
