Re: Bob Pare
That's really sad. He made a couple of trips to Britain and I met up with him both times. A truly nice gentleman.

Re: 100 E details
6015 was the basic part number for an engine block casting, it would be preceded by the specific engine type, e.g. 100E, 105E (original 997cc overhead valve engine), 109E (later 997cc overhead valve engine, also used for the 1298 cc and 1342cc engines). This should have 100E 6015 B cast into the lef...

Re: Mk1 not running well
Ah well, I understand that California is quite nice too! Anyway, this additional information confirms thoughts of an air leak on the induction side. It might be as well to check that the base of the carburettor is truly flat - they pull down at the ends of the mounting flange as the nuts are tighten...

Re: Mk1 not running well
Not easy to diagnose from a distance, and while a trip to New Zealand appeals, I don't think so! If the car is wired -ve earth the the coil -ve terminal should connect to the distributor and the +ve terminal be fed from the main loom. I notice that you've replaced most of the ignition parts, but I h...

Re: Brett's Stock Anglia 100e
Agree it's a common phenomenon with the 100E engine. As Peteleo says, a small bore / long stroke gives high piston speeds, and they don't like being driven at a constant speed and constant throttle setting for the long periods that modern (and older American) roads allow; in Britain in the 1950s, ev...

Re: Lakes Tour 19 June 2021
Funnily enough, they drew an awful lot of attention throughout the tour, which wasn't unusual. However, you might have noticed in the photo of the Corsair another car. A group of the Tour participants went to look the Corsair over, and on coming back I jokingly asked, 'Whose is the Bentley?' I was m...

They do have their advantages, and I have seen a few burnt out looms, but in retrospect, I tend to agree!

Re: MK1 Cortina fuse box.
Sorry, but I've only just found this, hence the delay. I did this to the 107E Prefect; it was a pig of a job and involved a lot - an awful lot - of extra cables, and it was difficult to make these look neat. I later had to strip out a lot of stuff, including the wiring, when the car went to be resto...
