I tried them (via Lordco) for the swaybar bashings, called at 2pm had them delivered and on the car by 2:45pm - they retail for $43 a set and are excellent material.

I'll see how they are with the TCA bushings which they did not have in stock (wonder why?)

Bushings

And since the steering etc is all hanging loose, I may as well replace all the steering and suspension bushes - any ideas where (ideally on this side of the pond/country) I can get these?

MK 1 Cortina GT rack and pinion conversion

Since the drivetrain is out and bits are dangling in the air I thought now would be a good time to investigate converting to rack and pinion. I'm fine with the current steering but I suspect that going to rack and pinion will free up a little space (which I need for the Honda S2000 drivetrain I am w...

We ran all V8 Cortinas on standard discs at the front and the Pinto rear drums with no problems whatsoever. Many were run on the track with out problems, either. These are very light cars. "Experts" would always tell me i need a 9' rear but it was unnecessary. They would also tell me it w...

On the V8 Cortinas we used a Pinto rear which has a long tube on one side of the pumpkin and a short one on the other. By using 2 short sides it will be a perfect fit, width wise, under a Cortina and virtually indestructible. Many have solid 6 figure mileages under them plus it has the same PCD as ...

MK Cortina GT Brakes and suspension upgrades

I am in the process of getting the drivetrain in the car and will also need to upgrade the front brakes and rear axle/brakes. I have read all sorts about axle swaps, the Mustang 11 being the weapon of choice for many - any thoughts on this? Alternative rear axles (with disc brakes) that you know abo...

Popped the engine mounts off the S2000 motor - thing of beauty that they are - because all we will need is a flat plate to which we will weld the new mounts. Dropped them off at a local shop, expecting a quote for $50 - 60 based on past work at other shops and was given a quote next day for $300! I...

I'm confused - if you already have nice a MKI GT, why do you need/want another one? - Doug "...the same week I found that Prefect, the Cortina I had been hunting for came up so I kept both for a while then sold the Prefect..." I'm not looking for another one. Not yet anyway.

I know this car, it used to belong to Fred and he did some great bodywork to the car. I do recall giving him some parts for it years ago from a Mk1 I was parting out at the time. Will you have it at the ABFM this year?? I will be there with my Anglia 100e, class #54. This was Fred's car and the bod...

I looked at the V8 option but wanted to stick with a 4 cylinder high revver which I could get parts for and the S2000 kept calling my name.
