Thanks for the replies. The timing marks do move when the rpms increase. I am using a Lucas distributor with a vac advance but I have this just open, nowhere to attach it to, could this effect it? Is it better to plug this off? Interestingly enough, the rpms are lower on the gauge the more advanced ...

A question for the engine builders.
I am trying to get my SU powered twin cam running better. I am pretty certain that I have the carbs balanced and the mixture good. I was aiming for around 12 BTDC, according to info I have researched. The only way I see to be able to get it to run half decent, though still under powered, is to have ...

Ok I lied, it’s the first one you said there Pete , the C5BH. Took the thing apart agin, actually starting to like the taste of gas..... it looks in half decent shape but I get about 40 ohms full and about 120 empty. I’m guessing it’s shot. http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/userpix/485_29A6F5CD14...

Thanks for the tip Pete, if I was really smart I would have done the last bit of testing when I had the sender out over the weekend..... I did have a small hole in the float which I soldered up and then I filled the tank again, I guess it should be nearly empty by the weekend to remove it again. Do ...

So here's a question for you Pete, it's been suggested that I may have a MK2 fuel tank and sender unit. Assuming that I have a MK2 sender and a MK1 gauge, are they different 'full' and 'empty' ohms readings? In which case a full tank may only give me a half full gauge reading? Pretty sad that these ...

SU spacer on twin cam
I’m toying with the idea of removing the coolant spacer thingy between the head and the SU carbs on my twin cam. Looks like the bolt pattern will match by putting the carbs straight on the inlet manifold casting of the head. My concern is that I won’t have the ‘ soft mounting ‘ with the Thac...

Yep Mk1 seems to be running good, got to work on the fuel gauge sender, replace some front end bushes ( also the front strut ball joints with spacers etc which looks quite involved 🤔). Thinking of removing the piece between the inlet manifold and the carbs, don’t think it really serves a purpos...

So a good turn out for the MG crowd but just the two Fords, My MK1 and an Anglia. :( http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/userpix/485_Brits_by_the_Bess_2018_2_1.jpg http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/userpix/485_Brits_by_the_Bess_2018_1_1.jpg http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/userpix/485_Brits_by_the_Bess_2018_3...
