Thanks Brett, I guess the bracket doesn't need to be a perfect match of the standard one, I just wasn't sure how long and high it should be so that it sits in the correct place for the spring to attach to.

Lotus twin cam air box

I'm looking at making a back plate , being a duplicate of the original, for the standard air box on a Cortina MK2 twin cam. I need the sizes, specifically the 'triangular piece' that juts out between the carbs and holds the return spring. I am looking at over $400 for a replica one on Ebay and don't...

Distributors

I have a Lucas 25D distributor, # 40854B, on my Lotus twin cam motor. The block is a 711M. I am not sure of the condition of the distributor and was wondering if anyone knew if the one on my 1970 MK2 Cortina GT would fit. Obviously the twin cam one is the side entry cap, maybe they are interchangeab...

Thanks Brett the pictures help. You have the single cable set up correct? I have been speaking to a really helpful guy at Dave beans and he is suggesting a load of individual parts which seem to me to add up to the kit that you have there. He also gave me a drawing to make up a bracket to replace the...

Carb linkage.

You kindly sent me a picture of your carb linkage Brett, what's the benefits of a single or dual cable linkage? Also which linkage did you go with, I see there are several options Syntec? I don't have much for linkage on the carbs at the moment, I plan on switching the carbs over so that the linkage...

I have to admit there are a lot of similarities there. I bought the car here in Saskatoon about 4 years ago, I believe. It was sold by, and still has a badge on the trunk, by Merlin Motors of Saskatoon. I have some paperwork showing the first owner lived in Saskatoon as well. I know of 4 former owne...

My MK 11

Thought I would add a couple of pictures, now that I have figured out how to! It's my 1970 GT, http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/userpix/485_cortina_1_1.jpg http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/userpix/485_July_2010_009_2.jpg http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/userpix/485_may_2011_013_1.jpg http://www.enfostuff....

Thanks again, I have a couple of pictures here, if I've got it right. One showing a hole in the side of the head, I'm guessing that this is some sort of breather? The other is of a fitting on the oil pan, some sort of temperature sensor? http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/userpix/485_image_1.jpg http://...

Further to my previous questions, I am now the proud owner of a twin cam motor, the one on Kijiji from Cranbrook. I am pretty green here and will be asking many 'stupid questions over the next while. I have noticed a stamping in the head at the back of the motor which I am not sure has any significa...

Thanks again, very helpful. Last thing, the transmission out of my 1970 GT should go straight on, yes? I may have been wrong earlier when I though my current block was a 711. I will need to check again, I'm certain it's the original motor and transmission.

Thanks Brett, really appreciate your info. Is there an engine mount that will fit on the 711? maybe someone like Dave Beans will be able to help me there? Do you know of any other modifications I will need to make to successfully put this block in my MK2? I have my original tranny which I believe wi...
