If you have less than 3 volts at the headlight plug they will not light regardless of the ground or bulb although those are always the first things to check. Something is seriously amiss upstream from there. First be sure you have a good ground for your voltmeter. Then work back a step at a time fro...

Does not sound like condenser or bad valves. You say the butterfly cuts off the air. What is the car? Is this an automatic choke? If so then I would bet it is the problem. How tight does it close when cold? May just need adjustment. If I misunderstood and the choke is not closing then clogged jets w...

Congrats on finding that air cleaner. I have heard there was an aftermarket water pump but have never seen or heard of an actual one. That may be really hard to find. One place you might check is Small Ford Spares in England (smallfordspares.co.uk) if you haven't already. If you can't find it in the...

When I tore mine down a few years ago to change the core plugs, I found about an inch of sludge in the bottom of the water jacket. In addition there were several bits of what appeared to be lead sheets clogging things. It took a few hours with some homemade tools to clean all that out through the co...

No it should start and run with that compression although it does appear to be a problem. FWIW, I had my 100E rods machined for shells more than 30 years ago and they are doing just fine.

I connected and tested the last piece of my handmade wiring harness on the '48 Prefect. Great feeling and no smoke escaped.

That's really strange Charlie. I don't even have a guess as to why but I think you have the right idea in changing it back to original.

Are you saying the car now has 3 master cylinders? It came with 2 side-by-side. One is for the brakes and the other is for the clutch. These two should never be connected together, however.
