Though not new to British cars, I finally found my dream car this summer, a MK2 Cortina! I was first drawn to British cars as a young boy in Omaha driving to my grandmothers houses and regularly seeing a Lotus Europa JPS in one neighborhood and a Triumph TR3 in the other. Then one day in 1969 my parents brought home their first ever brand new car, a Ford Cortina MK2, and the rest is history.
I spent 4 years in the UK (late 80’s/early 90’s) while serving in the USAF and had hopes of buying a Cortina and bringing it home to the US. Unfortunately I was a poor airman so that dream stayed just that, a dream. Years later I did get involved with classic Mini’s but it wasn’t until this summer that a Cortina finally came into my life and I couldn’t be more ecstatic! Looking forward to sharing stories and tips with everyone.
Current car:
1967 Ford Cortina GT MK2 (RHD)
Past British cars:
Opel Commodore (while stationed in UK)
1960 Austin Mini
1972 British Leyland Mini (RHD)
1981 British Leyland Mini with Keith’s convertible conversion (RHD)

Yes, it is the Alpine Green one that was sold on BAT in March then sold to me in June via Craigslist. Here’s the link to the BAT auction. [https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-ford-cortina-7/]
