Oil filter cartridge interchange?

Post by Bob Greenlee »

Hello to fellow Prefect owners.
Back in January I introduced myself and my '50 Prefect. Now, with spring around the corner, I'm taking steps to see if it will fire up again (after sitting idle for over 30 years!).
First, of course, I want to drain the crankcase and refill with fresh oil. And I certainly want to install a new oil filter cartridge. So here's my plea: Do any of you know if original cartridges are still available (and from whom), or if there's a make and model that can be substituted.
Whatever advice you can offer will be gratefully accepted. And as soon as I've successfully resurrected my machine, I'll post a summary of the efforts, as encouragement to others who entertain similar goals.
Thanks!
