I have been a member of the forum for around a year now and just decided to introduce myself. I am Alex and i live in Steinbach (Winnipeg), Manitoba, Canada. I am 16 and i own a 1970 Cortina. I got Tina a year ago on kijiji.ca and i have fallen in love with Brittish cars! my car doesnt run correctly yet but i know it will yet. it has 42,000miles on it and i plan on painting it next summer.

I have a 1972 Cortina and Im 16, got the car when I was 12 for free.
Definetly have to get some pictures up, I love cortinas!

Well look at that. There may be a future for funny Brit cars after all. And it's in the frozen North. I know a lot of Brits emigrated to Canada, were either of you influenced by parents/grandparents auto choices?

yeah my dad had a 74 cortina a long time ago, but he isnt english, he is 5th generation canadian.

Kinda sorta... My grandparents came over in 1967, my dad was the first born Canadian in the family. My dad and grandad are both big Jaguar people but Ive had relatives that owned a few Cortinas in the past

This is a picture of when I got it. It doesn't look much different yet.
This is what it looks like on both front wheel wells, rust free for the most part, completely paint still on the floor pans. You don't see that much from a car this age where I'm from.

Looks solid, but be sure to check the inner fenders around the strut mount, they are notorious for rotting

One of the strut mounts do have a bit of rust, but that is basically it for Tina.[/list]
