New member!! Brit in USA... Missing my cars!!

Post by Deathproofcapri »

Hey guys. U stumbled across this site few nights ago and gave me hope of owning a proper car again after leaving the I've only ever owned old fords in the uk, although I've had afew others to flip etc. I've built ALOT of cars, from 100e's, to s2 Rs turbos. I've had countless capri's. A mk3 calypso being my first car. I'd spend forever listing tge cars I've built and owned but tgey range from zetec powered 100e's, to zetec turbo's mk3 escorts (anotger one of my favourites) to a Cossie v6 mj1 Capri and a Cossie v6 mk3 cortina on triple 44's. Not many people ran those lumps on carbs and u cannot stress tge power it releases! Very underrated engine. I've done a lot of bike carb conversions, v8 conversions, on mk3 'Tina's and capri's only. Anyway, One of the many things I miss from home are the British fords, feeling tge only way to get hold of one was to import or pay 20 grand plus for an escort was stupidly retarded and pissed me off. But now, after looki g I've seen afew 105e's lingering and what's really made my day are the capris!! They're few and far between but tgey are out there! So my goal is to pick up a mk1 Capri or an anglia. And build a car like I would back in the uk. I'll dug up and post afew pics when in sat down. Anyway if anyone knows of tge whereabout if any for sale please, let me know! I'm on pa and nj, bordering both but am willing to really travel anywhere in tge states to grab one! Again, chuffed to find this site!! Cheers

I have seen a number of Capris come and go on Craigslist, you will have to keep your eyes open, I am sure that something will come out of the woodwork. Adverts like these come up from time to time.

Hi DeathProofCapri,
Do you have a first name we can call you?

Anyway, any interest in a 1968 Cortina? I know of one that might be for sale.

Cheers,
Bob

I've only ever had Mk3 Capri's, but I do like the Mk1 more and more. Maybe one day in the US I can get one and make a Perana replica :)

Deathproof,

I am currently living in Spain, and exporting old vehicles back to the USA. I know it kinda ups the price considerably, but there are a lot of vehicles here that just don't effectively exist there, and often at low prices. If you want to look for one, or want me to look for something for you, let me know. I would be happy to help you buy it and ship it back there.

Figure about US$4000, as a rough estimate, for shipping and customs and importation and everything. Including tilting it in Virginia, so you would just purchase it from me as a normal domestic vehicle purchase with a clear, simple Virginia title. I would do everything. Purchase the vehicle here, make sure it's in good nick, handle all the domestic paperwork, arrange shipping, get the vehicle to the boat, have a friend pick it up at the port in the USA, title and register it in Virginia, etc.

NOTE: This is not a business solicitation. I wouldn't profit from it. I make money on other vehicles like Land Rovers and Lancia Fulvias and stuff. But I would be happy to help if I can.

Cheers,
Paul
