Hi everybody.

I'm Dave C from Pitt Meadows, B.C. Canada.

I've just acquired a very nice 124E. There are a few things that I need/want to do before I apply for my collector plates.

I'm a retired auto tech. I served my apprenticeship with Sterne Motors in Burnaby. I was there from 1966-75. I worked for British Leyland 75-83 and with Honda for the last 25 years of my career.

I also own a '63 Morgan 4/4 which I've had for 48 years now. It was actively campaigned at Westwood and all the tracks around the Pacific NW from 69-74.

My other interests are large RC aircraft.

In the late 60's I was offered an Anglia estate for free, but I was still living at home and my Mum said 10 cars (MG ZB's and TD's), 2 race cars and a couple of trailers were quite enough, thank you!!

I've already picked up a lot of information here and looking forward to more.

Cheers,
Dave.

Dave,
Welcome to the Enfo site. Nice looking Angle box as we called them in back in New Zealand. You have come to the right group for you tech support. Have fun with the Anglia.

Hi Dave,

Welcome aboard. I've spoken to you a few times thru emails. Just curious,
does your 4/4 have the 109E engine ?

Regards,

Pete

Hi Pete.

The Morgan originally had a 1500, then upgraded to a 1500 GT. Blew that engine up in a spectacular manner on the track in Spokane.
It now has a 711M, big valves, 1300 GT pistons, cam, pair of 40's etc. It goes very well, although I drive it quite sedately now...respecting 50 yr. old parts etc.

Cheers,
Dave.

Some early 60's 4/4 were sold with the 1340cc. I thought maybe your's was one of them. Upgrading to a 711 is obviously more reliable.
I purchased a Morgan in "77 from IsIs Motors in San Francisco which ran on propane to meet the Ca emission standards. I sold it in '85 as we were buying a house.
I noticed on another thread regarding front struts. I'll switch over to it.

Your engine sounds to be a similar spec to the one in my Anglia although I have not finished that project yet. Are you using one of Shadbolt's cams in there?

Yes, a Shadbolt cam. Somewhere I have the spec tag.

Cheers,
Dave.

I think their cams are great and it was very convenient that they are across the street from my ex-workplace. Your cam might be one of these popular grinds but I had to slightly deepen the valve pockets in my pistons for the higher lift one.

I seem to remember it was the grind that Karen and John Hall used in their
Cortina at Westwood.
We also used their "Volvo D" grind in a few street cars as it was just a bit more than the standard 1600GT grind.
Cheers,
Dave.

Dave,

Welcome! - from a '60 105E owner.
I used to go to the Vancouver area a lot,in
the '80's,when I belonged to the LCCBC.
I still have my Westwood decal around
here somewhere.
