New member from Long Beach
Greetings! I am a new member. I live in Long Beach, CA, and am interested in getting a MkII Cortina.
I'd be interested to know if there are any for sale in Los Angeles (or elsewhere in CA). I'd also like to know if there are any owners near me who'd let me look at their cars, and maybe go for a drive. My Dad had a MkII new in Canada in 1969, but he sold it when I was little so it's been a while since I've seen or driven one.
I am about to start restoring a 1968 MGB. I also have a 2005 Lotus Elise which is my canyon-track car. I had a '86 911 for many years, which I sold to get the Lotus.

That's a good find, a car at a near normal price with good potential, the automatic is actually better for the guys that want 5 speeds or other bigger boxes. Just goes to show that normal priced cars are still out there waiting to be found.zephyrgary wrote:This looks like a good starting point.

On a side note, it looks like it still has an air pump on it??

Selling tactic. Doesn't sell the first time, raise the price, buyers who looked at it the first time get worried that it is going to keep going up and they go in and buy. Contact the seller offer him the price which it was first advertised at, and tell him its the best you can do as it has to be shipped across country.
My 10cents worth.

Honestly, even that 2600 isn't bad for that cortina. I picked up my GT for $200 more, and the interior and paint on that car are in much better condition. I knew i'd have to put work into my car but there's very very little rust on mine and it looks like this one. I was thinking of grabbing this car too and turning it into a track car as the trans tunnel on the auto is bigger than on my manual GT.
This car also has CA smog equipment on it, so it at least was in a rust free environment for some part of its life. It also has modern plates on it, and was registered in 2009, so it was at least running recently. Mine hasn't run since 1990z
I think it's a great deal for the price.
