New (to me) MK2 Cortina GT

Hey All,

Glad there is a group of us weird English ford people out there!

I recently picked up a 1969 Cortina GT, from Louisiana.
The car was from California, and sat in a garage for 30 or so years.
I know this might be a stretch, but does anyone know the car?
I've attached photos from the seller (edit cannot upload from iPhone), as the car is currently headed up to the Northeast for a tuneup (rubber bits, fuel lines, carb clean, new distributor), as it's all in fairly decent shape. There is minor rust bubbling on the rear right wheel well, but other than that it's fairly original and from what I can tell is that it was really well taken care of before it was parked.
How common were these cars for the MK2 sales in the US? I can't seem to find a sales number for them.

Thanks a bunch everyone![/img]

Sounds like you found a decent car there, have a read here, it may shed some light on your question?

Awesome, thank you so much. It's really astonishing how few there are over here.

Welcome. Sorry that I could not see the photo. It may be a car that was in the old registry at one time.

Plus it came with a trunk full of parts. Still have to go through them.

Update, car was seemingly one owner since new, and was owned by a J. Peoples out of Compton California. Does anyone know if he was in any group? I know a lot of the California people know each other and was hoping to get some of the history on the vehicle.

I put the word out to some California boys. Let's see what they can come up with.
