Hello from Los Angeles!

Post by Carlifornia »

Hi everybody,

I bought a '69 Cortina Estate a couple of days ago, which had a bit of internet fame. (My only second Ford after an XR2 Fiesta Mk1)

It is a V8 conversion 302 Windsor with a 5 Speed Tremec attached to it.
I'm pretty sure, I will have to ask your help with parts a lot. It does need work - as all old cars do.

For example, if somebody has the three rear window seals lying around, end me a PM 😊

As someone who has owned 2 MK1 2 door lookalikes in Lotus livery with the 302, I know you will have a lot of fun. There are also folks in this forum with a lot of knowledge and expertise to impart. Welcome.

Can help with a side lamp lens. Pete

Thank you guys!

peteleo If you got just the lens, that would be sweet. I was on the phone a two days ago with a Cortina Guy in Oakland (he is here too) he might have a complete one, but I only would need the lens

I am looking for the same rubber and extremely hard to get. Only ones I can find and very expensive.

Yeah, only Dave Baglow reproduces those, and they are close to worth the weight in gold sadly.

I used a ton of Glycerin and Lanolin to rescue what's left of them.

Pete, DEAL!

Ahh I remember this car a from a few months ago. The price you got it for was a steal. How is the interior?
Edit: also thought this group might know someone local who had some rubber tucked away - welcome to the world of cortina ownership

Well, the door cards are fine. No Headliner (will get that done next week)
The seats are torn too, except the passenger one - but I can't afford to get that fixed yet sadly 😊
For now the Mechanical side was more important, new front brakes, complete service, the muffler hanger needed fixing, some wiring - the usual stuff.
