In 1975 I bought a rust-free Mk1 Estate. I had parted-out 2 very rusty LCs and planned to convert the Estate to full LC Spec. Relocation and lack of space caused me to give the whole project away in 1985. Late 2017 I got it all back with just 700 miles added. Always kept indoors its still in great shape and now the LC conversion can continue.

Will be looking for some GT/LC parts via this forum which appears to be populated with many knowledgeable and like minded folks.

The LC in the foreground of this photo and a second LC were both stripped and delivered to the Grave Yard in the late 1970's.

Now after 30+ years I'm back in the Cortina Family.

Welcome, Clark. We may have spoken before. Cortina-list maybe ?
Are you in the Redding area ?
Converting the Estate to LC specs, very appealing. Now we have two members restoring MK1 Estates at the same time. Brent, recently picked up a pre-airflow Estate in Novato. Pete

Pete, I'm in Northern New Jersey but will relocate to Tennesse later this year.

Detroit native then Chicago then Boston and now New Jersey. Lots of Elan experience beginning is 1970.

I'd be interested in the 9.5 rear brake parts you spoke in the Wanted Forum.

Clark,

Oops, i'm confusing you with a Lance in Redding.

I have all the parts you need to convert to 9" ( not 9.5" ) GT brakes.
Can send you pictures thru email tomorrow: psnyders@pacbell.net

Nice car, I quite like the lines of a Mk1 wagon. There was a woody version of one in my neighbourhood back in the 1980s that I thought about trying to buy but that's hindsight.

Here's a photo of my recently re-acquired Mark 1 Estate shorty before it went away for all those years.

A cold Chicago area morning in October 1980. The day my bride and I departed to drive my father's Lotus Elite from Illinois to his new retirement home in North Carolina.

My Dad is gone now 12 years but his Elite is still here....55 years after he bought it in 1963.
