I'm new to this forum, having bought a 68 Cortina Mk II Deluxe on Monday, and driven it back from LA to the Bay Area without incident.

I'm mainly an Alfa nut (I have four of them), but am taken with most 60s and 70s European sedans and couldn't resist this car. This car is a one-owner two-door, red with black interior. Still has original black Calif plates. Lived all its life in Long Beach. No rust at all, but has a few small areas to sort out (poor alternator installation, throttle linkage jury-rigged, brakes need something). But all in all, an incredible survivor.

I had a 100E Anglia 15 years ago, and still have the MGA Twin Cam my dad bought new. Glutton for punishment?

Andrew,

Welcome aboard! Most Cortinas that are in good nick seem to be dependable of a car for long trips. When I use to live in Los Gatos, CA back when, I drove my MK1 GT back and forth from LG to Berkeley everyday for two years with no problems. They're great cars! You're Cortina was probably a Long Beach port of entry car as mine was back in 1966.

Have fun with it and post some pictures!

Andrew,

Welcome from Doug up here in Eureka.
Was that the Red one that was advertised?
Was the owner's name Garm,by any chance?

I saw this car on the California Melee email list, but it was also posted to bringatrailer.com. Garm was not the guy I bought if from.

I posted a couple pics in the reader's rides forum.
