1969 FORD CORTINA 1300 Deluxe - $14600

Post by Bob_S » Sat May 09, 2020 10:08 am

.

It looks like a deluxe to me but the seller claims its a GT. (The seller has changed the title to Deluxe from GT) No tach, no small gauges in the center of the dash, no wood dash and the biggest thing is a 1300 CC engine. I bet it even has a 1 barrel carb and not a weber carb.

With all that being said, it is a nice looking car

1969 FORD CORTINA 1300 GT RECENT IMPORT FROM PORTUGAL. EXCELLENT RUST FREE BODY WITH RECENT PAINT. I JUST HAD A NEWE INTERIOR INSTALLED AND IS NOW A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THIS RATHER RARE LITTLE BRITISH CAR. RECENT RESTORATION OF ROSTYLE WHEELS WITH NEW 13 INCH TIRES. THIS IS A VERY RARWE UNMODIFIED EXAMPLE OF HOW IT LEFT THE FACTORY.

IT IS A LITTLE UNDER POWERED BY OUR STANDARDS WITH THE 1.3 LITER KENT ENGINE AND TYPE 9 4 SPEED, BUT A FUN LITTLE CAR. YEARS OF ENJOYMENT OR REPOWER WITH A 2.5 DURATECH TWIN CAM!!!!!!!!

Doubtful it left the factory that way. Car looks more as a '67 deluxe model. Maybe a 1300 GT motor with a Weber, by the GT air cleaner, but standard exhaust manifold. Interior hood release ? Mixture of late and early model parts. Interesting to see the VIN plate.

It says that it came from Portugal, hence the 1300.

It maybe a 1300 alright but it's listed as a '69 hence the battery location should on the left side.

I had wondered over at the Lotus forum whether this was a Portugal only model for tax purposes. However, a Portuguese subscriber said there was no 1300 GT there either. I wonder if someone stuck an Escort 1300GT on the trunk and this guy fell for it.

That's my thought also, Gary. The air cleaner inlet would obstruct access to the distributor. Would make sense if it left the factory with a 1500 pre-c/f probably as a late '67 model as it has the rubber top mounts instead of the bearing mounts.

It also has a generator when it should have an alternator.

He has now changed the ad to read Deluxe, not GT. Must have heard from someone and gotten a clue.

I sent him a quick email to "update" his info...said he doesn't really know much about "these" cars. :D
