Found Even More Cortinas (& Parts)!

Post by angliagt » Wed Nov 25, 2020 5:02 pm

Got a tip about a Cortina who's owner has passed away,so I just HAD to
go see it today.Turned out to be a MKI GT 2 door,in decent shape. It's white, with
rust on the right rear & at the top of the left front fender,& the rest didn't look
too bad.The gauges are missing, but might be in the trunk (there was no key).
There was also a MKII GT 2 door, gray.that seems complete, that's had some
work done to it (was told it was an autocross car),with a decent body. There were
also two MKII GT shells, with a lot of usable parts. The hoods are good,& the trim on
the front of them is straight. The gas tanks & gas caps are there also.
A guy who is the go-between for the Widow, showed me some of the parts in
the building, including a Cosworth BDA valve cover,& told me that he believed that
the head as there also.Lots of engine parts in good shape,GT headers, etc.
He let me look around,& I told him that I'd help sell everything.I'll try and get
pictures in the next few days.Left my camera in the Miata.
There's also a trailer with (I was told) a really nice Cortina,as well as an AC Bristol
that was converted to a drag racer years ago (American V8/cut out wheel wells).I'm
hoping to get to see everything soon.
If anyone's interested in anything, please contact me.

In spite of the cars sitting outdoors and being filthy they don't look to bad, I wonder though about rust underneath if they have always sat on damp ground? You mentioned a lot of mechanical bits too, I wonder what's in that lot?

They're actually not too bad, especially for Virginia cars.
The strut towers on the gray car have been done. The MKI is also in pretty good shape.
I've been told that it's a "make an offer" kind of deal.I'm sorely tempted,
even though I don't need any more cars (or projects).
I was told that there a nice Cortina in the moving van next door,& a Fiesta in
the building behind the cars.

Assuming the original parts listed (valve covers etc) are gone? They selling the cars whole or parting them out? What are they asking for each of the complete cars?

The engine parts are sold. The cars are (I believe) sold complete.
I was told "Make a fair & honest offer".

Tough to make a fair and honest offer on that lot - what is fair and honest for some is an insult to others...and the variety/quantity makes it tough to come up with a number which makes sense to both parties.

That said, someone(s) is going to be happy at the end of the day :D

Still looking to swap my M100 for a rust free(ish) Mk1 GT, the best Ford ever made. :D

If interested, make an offer - the worst they could say is "No".
