Why would someone in North America have converted it to RHD? Just curious.

The RHD conversion makes no sense to me either but I do see it was converted to rack and pinion, maybe the rack was only available in RHD???

Its baaaaack!

And will be back again unless he drops the price, I know the car, have seen the car, discussed the car in some depth with the previous owner, agreed on what was required to get it on the track - and even at just over half the asking here, I declined.

Two reasons, one being the rack and pinion as noted above and the other being the installation of the Hayabusa (if I remember correctly, that is what I was told).

I AM on the hunt for another MK1 GT but this one needs more work than I can achieve, given my skills (and age :D )

Did you ever have a look at the GT project out in Abbotsford about 1 1/2 years ago ? Stripped right down with a bunch of new sheet metal welded in.
Not too bad , but still lots of work to go. It was on craigslist for a number of months. I was interested but then a chance to buy a Lola came along and I went for that instead. I have wondered where it ended up ? Owner seemed to be a reasonable guy, long time Mission road racer.

Saw that one and discussed with the owner but as you mentioned it needed a lot of work and I had 6 vehicles at that time and no room to do the work!

Am currently kicking the tires on this one on BaT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1963-ford-cortina-gt/ though the top mounts for the front suspension do raise questions.

I like that BAT Cortina, it looks quite solid and it's only a couple of days drive from here. I wonder where the bidding will take it?

I threw in the $10K bid to keep the dreamers and time-wasters at bay.

You mentioned a concern about the top mounts? It looks like it still has stock Mk1 struts and control arms but they are moved inward and back so who knows what the castor/camber figures are now but I bet the change is an asset to the Cortina's drivability. I know the built in spindle angle is  about 4 degrees positive on those struts but I don't know what the end angle is when installed in the vehicle?

I understand all that, its just the way it has been done with the offset is a little "different" Still waiting for the seller to respond to the various questions

Usually the seller is ready willing and able to answer all questions even if they don't satisfy.

On BaT things tend to go badly when the seller fails to respond...no matter. still a long time to go.

Might be helpful to someone. This is the same car when I first saw it about 3 years ago, I bought Gords other 66 MK1 GT, stripped and painted. Many thanks to Brett for assisting me to add pictures. Third picture is of the one I bought home.

I am glad the codes worked, I see you got the steering wheel in the right place. Do you remember what the asking price was on the red one back then?
