Ford Cortina '67 GT 5 speed

I do remember this one being for sale before but do not recall the details, I wonder what it will fetch if it meets reserve? The paint looks too nice to be slogging it around on gravel roads. If it was mine I would loose the driving lights, window and body decals and it would make a nippy driver.

It's been for sale for several years now. First by the owner, then Park Place and now (maybe a couple more in between, too), BaT.

Looking at the dyno sheet, I find it interesting that the max BHP figures are around 130ish and torque about 100ish. The stock ST170 (SVT) motor makes Horsepower: 170 hp @ 7000 rpm and Torque: 145 lb.-ft. @ 5500 rpm. Even factoring in for ~15% power loss at the rear wheels, that is low (stock would have been 144 BHP and 123 lb.-ft., respectively). OMEX says that the stock ST170 motor with their injection and a header should be putting out about 190 BHP.

I also find it peculiar that with the engine improvements, there were no brake upgrades done. The brakes on the Cortina were marginal to begin with for a 90 BHP motor, let alone one with much more.

Just my $.02 worth.

It sold for just over $18K which I think is a fair deal. I had 2 MK1 Cortinas with 302 V8s in them and both had standard brakes and they were just fine. A Cortina is not a heavy car.

I threw in some comments on that as well, seems very low to me - especially when you compare it to the one shown below, I know, one was at the wheels, the other at the flywheel but still seems low - which tells me there is room for improvement...now, 'bout them brakes!

Yes, that Zetec looks nice but you would have to sort the exhaust and sump to fit a Cortina/Anglia and I wonder what cams it's running? I love the BDA look and it's simplicity, it is a pretty engine for sure.
