CL - 1970 Ford Cortina - $3,200 (WA)

1970 Ford Cortina - $3,200 (Lake Roesiger)

1970 Ford Cortina Mark II with:

-Ford Essex V6 in it, double the HP of the stock 4 cylinder engine
-Custom headers and a stainless steel dual exhaust
-Holley 4bbl carb
-Offenhauser intake
-Borg Warner ignition
-4 speed manual
-I have pretty much all the parts to complete it
-Body is in good shape (no rush), just needs paint
-Comes with parts needed to complete it and many extras

Runs and drives, just needs a few solid weekends to complete it.
Many people mistake this for a Datsun 510 or similar. It would make a great autocross car.
Just had a baby (no time) and I don't have room to store it anymore.

Looks like the German 2.6l from the 1973 Capri, not the Essex motor which would be the 3.0l.

You are correct that it's not a 3.0L Essex. They have the distributor at the front, like a Windsor small block Ford. Yes, it's a Ford Cologne V6, which has the distributor at the back. Also Offenhauser never made an intake manifold for the Essex, but did for both the 2.6 & 2.8L Cologne engines. The 2.6L version only has 2 exh ports per head, with 2 cyls being siamesed. The 2.8L has 3 exh ports per head. It's hard to see in the pic, but I'm 99% sure this is a 2.8L. They are far more common being used in Capris 74-77, Mustang II, Ranger, Bronco II, etc. The 2.6L was 1 year only in 73 Capri. Bottom line, the seller obviously doesn't know what he/she has ...

At least it looks to be a GT.
