I would love to have one of those and I actually have all the bits to make it a good driver.

I spoke to the owner a couple of days ago he's not far from me he says he has had a boatload of people contacting him about the van and he's waiting for someone who is coming today to see it I offered to go up there yesterday with trailer and cash but he's honouring his word which is very refreshing nowadays sounds like a good solid van would love to own it he says he,s firm on his price due to the amount of interest he,s had , I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to someone familiar to some of us on here

As much as I would like it, it is just too much when I factor my Canadian Dollars at about $10,500. The funny thing is that I am actually in the California Desert for a while, it would be nice to take home with me.

I never heard back from him yesterday so I,m assuming he sold it when his potential buyer showed up I would liked to have owned it but I could just see work money & time to make it a driver again and I have enough to do on that front already , I,ll be in palm springs next weekend for the mccormick auction do you go to that

I have often gone to that auction but I do it on the free Friday, my routine in past years has been that my wife drops me there for a couple of yours while she goes off and shops around P.S. I am trying to talk her into doing that again, the only drawback to that is that not all of the auction vehicles have arrived yet on the Friday.

You will be there Friday up front at the auction block, aside from the collar and tie, how would one recognize you? Should I ask for Oldnosname? I was looking at the lineup so far, there are some nice cars but not a lot of old Brit stuff. https://www.classic-carauction.com/Auction-Cars

ask any of the guys on the. floor in the yellow shirts for ray adams if there's a car on the block I won't be far from it and I,ll be the only one on the block wearing a tie I,ll also have a name tag on my shirt (incase I get lost ) but that might be hard to see in the crowd , look forward to seeing you

Thanks, I was thinking back to this auction back in November 2018 when I went to the Friday preview, I found the Morris Woody to be interesting so I later recorded the auction from the Facebook live feed. I gather that you might have been one of the fellows in this clip??

Hi Ray, I just wanted to thank you again for the passes at McCormick's and we did utilize them when we came back on Sunday, it was great meeting you, Bob and I brought our better halves back with us and I was unsure if my wife would enjoy the day but she loved the auction dynamics, how do they talk that fast? I was going to come up and say hello again but I could see that you and the crew were working hard to move the vehicles through on schedule. I took a lot of photos over the two days that I was there and I could post many but you know the hurdles of picture posting on this Forum. I will try to post three here with my fingers crossed, one of the McCormick team at work and the others are of a car that I thought was in need of a crossflow but I am sure that would spoil it? I was further entertained as we were leaving the grounds to hear a chorus of "Happy Birthday" over the PA system, I hope that it was a good one.oldnosname wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 12:19 pm ask any of the guys on the. floor in the yellow shirts for ray adams if there's a car on the block I won't be far from it and I,ll be the only one on the block wearing a tie I,ll also have a name tag on my shirt (incase I get lost ) but that might be hard to see in the crowd , look forward to seeing you

hi brett
its always nice to put a face to a name , youre more than welcome for the passes I,m glad you all enjoyed the weekend I,ve worked that sale for over 25yrs now I,ll be back in February if youre in town give me a shout 415 517 5754 and I,ll leave you some passes , the little Austin bantam belonged to a very good friend of mine from up here in the Bay Area , he spends the winters in Palm Springs and bought that for his wife to potter about in down there a couple of years ago but as the great blues singer bb king once said "the thrill has gone " so we sold it for him I grew up in the motor trade and have always loved the atmosphere of an auction the mccormick family are lovely people and most of the crew have also worked the sale as long as I have we are like one extended family really , however I was a little surprised when they stopped the sale to sing happy birthday to me I suspect my wife and Keith mccormick had a hand in that , hope you have a good return journey I,ve always loved the little Austin A40 pickups and vans my dad bought and sold a ton of them when I was a kid and I know there were quite a few in Canada at one time if you ever see or hear of one let me know
cheers. RAY

Wow, that is a long stint with the McCormicks and I can see that you and the crew do work like a family. Thankyou for the February pass offer but we will be leaving the Desert here just before New Years after our six week stay. I have actually been in Palm Springs for the February auction in previous years and it is always a treat for me, I still have many photos of the February 2020 auction on my hard drive here with me now. I remember Covid was becoming a huge issue at that time and we were basically forced to go back to Canada on the last available flight in later March.oldnosname wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 1:52 pm hi brett

As far as the Bantam goes, I fully understand the owner's sentiment, I have been driving 100e Prefects and Anglia's for the past 25 years and I love the cars but the underpowered performance of the little side valve and 3 speed has finally got me to convert my remaining side valve Anglia to the crossflow experience that I craved from my more youthful days. I will be continuing my conversion work on my Anglia when I get back home from the Desert and I will do a proper post on that whole job here on the Forum as it progresses. I have your contact info now and I will certainly keep my eyes open for the Austin types that you mention, who knows? I just looked in my drive now, here are two from February 2020.
