Michael’s Mk II Zodiac

Michael’s Mk II Zodiac

Here is a photo of my 1960 (Mk II) Ford Zodiac. I bought the car in 2000 with about 27,000 miles on it from (then) fellow NAEFR member Grant Mercer. Grant had bought the car from the family of the original owner and got it roadworthy again. Previously it had last been licensed in 1986.

Other than installing seatbelts (old fashion lap only) and a few minor repairs, I have made no changes to it. Those are genuine garage scraps on the side (a common problem with low mileage vintage cars). I do plan to fix them someday, but for now I enjoy it as is. The car now has (2007) about 34,000 miles on it. The trip to ECAIP 2007 was 400 miles round trip, and is the only time during the year that the car becomes a “family car.”

For those not familiar with these cars, the engine is a OHV 2.6 straight six. This car has a Borg-Warner automatic and is a real smooth driver. The car still has the original Cherry Motors “Ford-Edsel-British Ford” (Chiliwack, BC) decal on the back.

Family Car

Post by IFHP »

Here is a candid photo of my family and I using the Zodiac (for one weekend a year) as an actual family car. The location is the MV Coho ferry returning home from Victoria, September 2007.
