Here are some photos of my 1964 Consul Corsair, which I’ve decided to keep after all. Though Corsairs were never officially available in North America, Ford of Britain would build them to North American specifications (LHD with MPH speedo and red turn signals – I know of three other Corsairs like this) on request. This car was built at Halewood for an American resident from Portland, OR through the European-delivery program. This car was apparently in an accident as there is a substantial amount bodywork on the front fenders. At that time (probably the ‘70s) this Ermine White car was repainted two shades of metallic blue. Power is from a 1500 Kent.

I bought the car in 2000 from fellow member Steve Broady. It ran, just barely, when I bought it, but I haven’t had the time or money to get it roadworthy. But now I have new dream, to restore (or at least refurbish) this car along with my 1961 Taunus 17M 1500. They would make for a really interesting early ‘60s Ford UK vs. Ford Germany comparison duo.

Considering how long it has been sitting, the car is in pretty solid condition with the only rust in the front floorboards.

HI MICHAEL. IN APRILS CLASSICFORD MAGAZINE IN THE TECHSECTION THEY HAVE THE BUYERS GUIDE FOR THE CORSAIR. NEVER KNEW THAT ESTATES WHERE BUILT AND THAT CRAYFORD CREATED CONVERTIBLES MODELS. DO YOU HAVE PIC. ON THE ESTATES AND CONVERTIBLES CARS. IT WOULD BE COOL TO SEE HOW THEY LOOK. THANKS GREGORY

There is actually a guy (Brit ex-pat) in Texas with a Corsair Crayford. I'm trying to get him to join this list. I'll see what I can do about posting a Corsair Estate photo.

You may not know this but there are two types of Corsair convertibles although both were built by Crayford. Some are convertibles and some are cabriolets which are rarer. I'm not sure on the differences but I could find out. The estates are pretty rare, not too many were built. A friend did have one back in the 70s complete with slot mags! Glad you are keeping your Corsair Michael, there is a club here in the UK and they are very helpful so I've been told.

Yes I was a member of the Corsair Owners Club for a couple of years, but with the value of the dollar going down, the fact that the club is prohibited from shipping spares to N. America for insurance reasons and the fact that I haven't actually been doing any work on the car, I let it go. I know that at some point fellow N. American Corsair owners Doug and Glenn also were members, but I don't know if they still are.

I would consider rejoining if I ever get serious about the car.

Before joining here it seemed that there was only 105e,100e,300e,and the 100e wagons -Squire and Escort and old sit up and begs in the US . Oh I've seen 2 Consul Capri coupes , and 8 mk1 Cortinas and 4 mk2 Cortinas , but I've been into ENFOs for 8 years so I'm shocked and soooo happy to have found this forum .

I'm glad you found us too. It is cool that you have been keeping track of what you have seen over the years.

Given what you just said about yourself, you woud probably enjoy our club too. It is called European Ford Owners North America and there is a section elsewhere on the Forum for it.

If you are fired up for a Corsair, you might try trying to track down the white car shown in this link. It used to belong to Doug Milota but was sold to some folks in the LA area who tore it apart with the idea of fitting a V8, but then lost interest. The last I heard of it was in 2005. I can give you what contact info I have if you like.
