Paul’s P2 Taunuses

Paul’s P2 Taunuses

Since there are no P2 Taunus photos in the Rider’s Rides section yet, I thought that I would post these photos of EFONA member Paul Morey’s two P2 Taunus 17Ms. I took these photos in May 2007. The photos aren’t so great due to the cramped location – but at least Paul has dry storage.

The blue car is a 1960 model and can be differentiated from the 1958/59 models by a number of trim details including the taillights. Paul bought the 1960 several years ago form someone in the Chicago area. The gray car is a 1959 model and Paul found it locally (Skagit County, WA) when he was looking for a parts car. The 1959 is too good to be a parts car, so Paul is going to restore it too.

Paul's P2

Here are a couple more photos of Paul's 1960 P2, taken several years ago when he first got the car. It had been in storage near Chicago for many, many years.

I'm interested in purchasing a Taunus 17m p2. I would like to restore it as close to original as possible and wanted to know the common problem areas, aside from getting parts.

You have a nice BarockTaunus man... It would be great if you paint it...
In Argentina this Taunus was common in 50s. Now it is a very rare car to see. We have in ClubTaunus Argentina www.clubtaunus.com.ar some members with P2s. :D

These are very hard to find which is sad as there cool to look at, the time I lived in Germany 1976 - 1991 I don't remember seeing any at all.

I have a great book from Germany which I've had since 1980 called Deusche Autos 1945 -1975, it has some great picture's and good info.

It says that there were only 239978 of the Ford P 2 model made from August 1957 till August 1960. From which 45468 kombi's were built and a small amout of two seat Cabriolet 2 seaters.

Picture's from the book Deusche Autos 1945 -1975

The author of Deuthsche Autos 1945 - 1975 is Werner Oswald and I think it was pubished by Motorbuch Verlag Stuttgart.

Here are just some of the pages inside the book.
