After some minor repairs - front brakes caught fire during a ride this summer, I was finally able to get out to some shows. Been quite a while since the Taunus was out.

At a show this past weekend in New Kent, Va.

Hopefully I will have it down in South Carolina at Hilton Head this November. They have a Saturday event befor the Concours D'Elegance and since this year's featured Marque is BMW, the Saturday event will have a heavy presence of German cars.

Well, I did make it down to South Carolina to the HHI Coucours car club jamboree on Saturday 11/5/11. Had a great time, met a LOT of great people, and for my efforts was awarded the "seasoned veteran" award - not for me, but because the car has over 170,000 miles on it.
There is a picture of the car with me and the grandkids in it at (you have to click on "top awards" and I am at the bottom of the page):

Saw a lot of great BMWs there as well on both Saturday and Sunday at the Concours D'Elegance.

Beautiful car Rob, nice job! That'll give those BMW's a good run!

Actually, with 300 HP it would certainly give those BMWs a run for their money, but only in a straight line - it doesn't corner as well as the BMWs.

There was a crowd around the car the whole day, and I met some interesting people. I spoke with one gentleman that said that his neighbor in Florida had helped design the 57-60 17M body, I can't recall the name he gave me - I wouldn't mind speaking with him about his time with Ford of Germany. The gentleman did say that he was going back home and tell his neighbor that he saw his work in person.

That , my friend , is a very sweet old Ford .
Well done ....
Why not a Ford motor ?

Thanks! I tend to like it and enjoy driving it as often as I can.

I opted for the Chevy because of cost - I already had the transmission and the motor and was able to build 300 HP for about $2,000.00. Can't do that with a Ford motor. When you are trying to keep the cost down (and from the wife), you do what you have to do.....

On the move.....
