I noticed that it is a work in progress..............years ago a guy from Vancover would show up about once a year and ran his anglia in the SCCA club races, here in california.............he flat towed it with a mk1 cortina....can't remember his name,I should we always pitted next to each other (only 2 english fords racing).......I always kind-a wondered what happened to him and the car

I'm putting together a 67 to vintage race, have it striped and ready for a cage, then paint..........I plan on bolting on the parts I have collecting dust

what are your plans for the rear suspension?? or are you going to leave it stock?

Yes I loved the estate as well, before the shipper crushed it.. Long story..

The Anglebox rear suspension will depend on what I do motor wise for it.. If I leave it as a 4 banger, I'll just beef up what's there... If I go nuts on the motor but keep it 4 cylinders, I'll put a 4 link in it like the Escort.. I just love how that rear end doesn't bounce around under power!

If I go V8, then it will be a square tube frame, with a 4 link as well, but a bigger ear end, like a Ford 9 inch ( I have a nice narrow housing just waiting to go! ) It really will depend on how bad the chassis is, and i haven't got into it yet..

And unfortunately it is going on the back burner this year as I have to rebuild my newly restored estate since the crash, and that should take up most of my free time!

I've seen some nice 4 link plus watts linkage setups on these in Europe forums, and that's really all you would need ( if rules allow ) for yours!

Nice to see you finally got the wagon done Mark.

I finally pulled the Fiat Twin Cam from the Cortina I bought from you and am in the process of installing the 'upgraded' engine/trans but I am having a problem finding the recommended Pinto V6 wagon rear end - any alternatives that come to mind?

Wow long time no talk to.. The Honda looks good in there! The pinto rear is not bad but too wide as is.. you can build a cage and go independant which would be awesome, but major surgery.. My choice would be just bite the bullet and get a proper ltd slip and axels for the Cortina diff, and do a 4 link..

Your gear choices for the Atlas ( Pinto ) are pretty limited as well.. Possibly the mid 80's Toyota Corolla rear end is close.. Those are nice and you can get them with ltd slip.

The Cortina wagon isn't done yet.. It's structurally repaired, but I've been lazy the last couple of years ( except the restoring a TR6 for my brother )
We are however just loving our Super 7. :lol:

I am not that keen on the Pinto rear myself but 4 link is a little more difficult/expensive and for the way I will be driving, probably unecessary.

I'll kick around some of the Japanese alternatives though I also planned to just leave the original in until it breaks, its not like the S2000 motor has tons of torque.

I was given an alternative from a guy in North Van (no doubt some tweaking will be needed) he suggested...

Jag Mk11 3.54 with powerlock
15x7 wheels
Stag/TR7 calipers front, TR6 calipers (16p type) rear
Stag springs up front

Problem is, I don't see many MK11 Jags, Stags or even TR6s around.

I would prefer Japanese as they defintely improved on everthing they copied!

I have owned 2 302 V8 MK1s over the years. We used to get the Pinto axle, which has an off set diff. so one side is longer than the other. Remove one long side and weld on another short side. Perfect fit plus bolt pattern matches Cortina. Also ran stock Cortina discs with no worries as the car is so light.
The guy who bought my first one 20 years ago has well over 100,000miles on that set up with no worries. Others are well into 200K, so it does work. Hope this helps.

In fact, I just emailed him to check and he is using the stock system with good quality EBC pads and says they have never let him down even on track days. And he gives it some welly!

Appreciate that Gary, problem is finding a Pinto axle, few and far between here - at least the last few times I checked.

I'll keep looking.

Just double checked. You need either V6 Pinto or V8 Mustang II. I have a Morris Minor convertible with Fiat twin cam lump in it. It has a 70s Toyota Celica rear axle which has given no trouble and did not need altering to fit, other than mounts. I would look out for something like that or even Jap mini trucks of 79s and 80s.
