Old scrapbook photos of mki & mkii meets and shows

Post by mk2Colorado »

This scrapbook was given to my stepfather, who passed it on to me, from a UK visitor touring the states sometime in the mid-80s; I'm not sure how many of these were photos he took or acquired in pen-pal trades but they are worth sharing. Please excuse the occasional glare, no scanner to use so it's all photos of old photos.

I think a few posts of several photos is likely to be more digestible than one post with a lot of photos.

One thing I've noticed with all the photos of mk2 Zephyr/Zodiacs is this grill that was on our family's first Zephyr is rarely seen.

Was this a standard grill? I've seen it once or twice besides the one above that was in our family but only in older photos.

Aaron,

Early high lines MK2 have the crate type grilles until around '58. Low line models from around '59 have the common grilles you see most .

That makes complete sense from the timeline of the cars he owned/which year. I still have the crate grill along with other various pieces from the white one above(rust had claimed most of that car, from even before my stepfather bought it) that we held onto for the sake of possible but hopefully never needed use for any post-accident serious repairs.
The crate grill definitely gives a different look to the car and it wouldn't fit the personality to the red/cream highline as it does for the white one but sometimes we hold onto every piece we can. I'm not sure it would even fit due to the shape of the side lamps.

I believe all Zephyr/ Zodiac MK2 grilles are interchangeable.
For the Zephyr 2/56/57/10 206E-8153 Grille has the round
Parking lights. While the low line 206E-8153B has oval types attached . According to the parts book .
Images of high lines with later grilles are common and Zephyrs with Zodiac grilles.
I'm keeping a spare Zodiac grille in case I need a replacement for my '60 Zephyr.
