mk1 cortina question
Wow! I just found this post completely by accident... that's the car I bought.garyeanderson wrote:This probably belongs in the for sale topic but, Isn't this the same Cortina deluxe with the dent in the right hand door and a bunch of other work done?

1965 FORD CORTINA DELUXE 1500 - LOTUS RACING PARTS - $3800 (Folsom)
Very rare in US, reportedly only around 2000 left. Very low mileage, with about 10 miles on rebuilt engine; only 27,504 original miles. This Ford Cortina will give you lots of attention!
Here are the particulars:
Completely rebuilt motor, with a Lotus fan and new motor mounts
Rebuilt transmission - 4-speed manual
Brand new, custom built aluminum radiator
All new Lotus Cortina suspension
Lotus sway bar
New 2" exhaust
New wiring harness, professionally installed
New Lotus rims, new tires (175/70R13)
New brake lines
Undercarriage undercoated
Car runs great, just needs to be retimed. The interior is in good shape, aside from minor upholstery seems coming apart, and no headliner. Needs body work and some rust repair on the fenders. Have front bumper, it just needs to be put back on. Otherwise this baby blue beauty is a real classic and worth having. Call Justin at 916-220-9028 with any questions.
Some of the details aren't quite as advertised... the underdash wiring harness is a mild disaster and I've just finished completely rewiring it with a fuse box and negative earth. Lots of really bad soldering, crimping, and taping.
The "new" wheels and suspension are only "new" to the car.
I'm not sure why anybody bothered undercoating it... there is quite a bit of rust to take care of first... and not just in the fenders.
No biggie... I knew I was buying a minor basket case and I paid quite a bit less than the $3800 in that ad.
...oh yeah, and it is actually a 1966.
