alternator conversion

Has anyone replaced the generator with an alternator on a crossflow (681F)?
How is the belt tension bracket attached to the block?

tension bracket attaches to the waterpump 1/2" head bolt

Was the water pump bolt also used for the original generator mounting?
Is the bracket placed under the bolt head or is there a special bolt that has a "stud" on top of the bolt head to accept the bracket?

Yes, it's the same bolt that holds the generator bracket. You would need to remove the fan blade and pulley from the water pump to remove the 1/2" head bolt. The bracket will be held in place by this bolt.
