U.S. Customs & Border Protection is the agency that you will have to deal with. Figure out which Port of Entry you will use to bring the car into the USA. Then call U.S. Customs & B.P. and speak to them at THAT location, as they are the folks you will be dealing with. Importing requirements vary with the age of vehicle, the country of manufacture, type of vehicle, etc. In certain cases you might even have to pay some duty based on the value. Of course you can have it shipped commercially, and a licensed Customs Broker will handle all of this for a fee. There might also be export requirements by the Canadian Border Services Agency (formerly Canada Customs), but I'm not aware of any. Please check your state laws also. If they have strict requirements (like Calif.) you perhaps might be allowed to import the car into the USA, then not allowed by your state to register it in your particular state. Let the buyer be wary !!!

thanks
