FWD Taunus 12M or 15M gearbox (Taunus P4 /P6)

Post by Bob_S »

Hi All,
I was wondering if there are any 12M / 15M FWD Taunus in this country? And if so, is it just a couple or what? I really want to get my hands on the manual gearbox from one. But if I can't find it here (in NA) I'll either have to bit the bullet and import one or settle for a Saab gearbox, which I don't want to do.

I have found several 4 speed gearboxes in Europe but the shipping is very high.

Thanks for reading this and if you have any suggestions please let me know.
Cheers,
Bob

There is a nice 1970 15M coupe in the Bay Area, but it isn't a parts car.

Hi,
Are you talking about the red one that for sale ~2 years ago in San Mateo? Is it still for sale? It looked like a nice car and would be nice to have parked next to my project when I am finished.

I was looking at having a gearbox shipped from Germany but it was ~$750 just for shipping to Detroit. :-( So I am still looking for a gearbox or and inexpensive way of shipping from Europe to Detroit.

Cheers,
Bob

Yes, that car. I saw i in the metal back in 2004. I would mind having it, but I have too many cars already. What car do you have?

Bob,

I talk to the owner several years ago. It seems like he wasn't finding a buyer. I also seem to recall that the car has suffered some modernization -- like big wheels. Don't know the current fate now.
