Got to See a Really Cool Escort

Post by angliagt »

I heard about this ex- Alan Mann Escort,
so I drove down to Danville,Virginia to see it.
The owner,Tivvy Shenton, told me that he
worked for Alan Mann Racing,as well as Broadspeed.
There were a bunch of cool old cars there, but
this one was the best.

Doug,
As a teen I had a poster of XOO 349F on my wall. As a grown man today it is in my garage. Fabulous cars.

That's not a Morris - it's an Austin Minor.
Notice that the nose badge says "Austin".
There was an blown up copy of a magazine
article about it in the bed.

You're correct, I remember the Austin Minor now. I had a Practical Classic magazine at one time with an article about it.

Does he drive/race the Escort? What about the Mini Cooper? Looks to be a GT5 Mini.

The Escort isn't legal for racing here.
It's been restored to '69 race specs.
He was racing the Jag,but doesn't race anymore.
The Mini is a hillclimb car.
Here's more info on Tivvy -

The magazine article I had was about one of these.
