hi all, I was wondering if anyone has bought a new ring and pinion off of ebay UK:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Ford-Eng ... SwCL9d4SjH
or this on our version of ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/CORTINA-ESCORT ... 0667.m2042
Are they UK made? or chinese? quality?
still would like to get the rpm down.
ring and pinion
If you want to get the RPMs down here is a 3.31, they have many different ratios. I'll be getting one of these when I'm ready to do my axle.

Haven't heard of MLR. Retro ford has a great reputation so if you want to be certain a Chinese cwp is not gonna blow apart..

There is also Burtons in the U.K. I think their stuff is of good quality and I am quit happy with their service. Of course we don't have to pay the VAT either so that will leave a bit of money to help pay your shipping. Here is a link to Burtons selection.

I do not know from any of my own experience so??? I misunderstood, did Dave Bean say that Burtons were inferior Indian parts? I would expect better from them. Here is their description of the parts but of course it's biased.Kiwi Cortina wrote:Brett, Is it good quality, as I talked to Dave Bean and they have them in stock, but he said they were not good quality and I would be better to try and find 1 in the UK. Something about them being from India I think he said.
"We have been supplying these high quality CWP gear sets for 15 years with total sales now exceeding 5000 units. Our European supplier is a world leader in spiral bevel gear production. They are an OEM supplier to many major manufacturers and use the latest Gleason CNC machinery to ensure the highest quality standards.
All of our CWP gear sets are precision manufactured from high quality 8620 alloy steel forgings to Ford O.E. specification and quality standards. The superior Gleason tooth forms on each gear set are individually lapped together to ensure optimum meshing quality. After an exacting hardening process the gears are finally treated to a manganese phosphate surface coating which forms a long lasting anti-corrosion shield, gives enhanced lubricity, and protects against abrasion.
We source our CWP sets in close collaboration with Quaife which not only endorses the quality of the gears but also allows us both to provide a wider range of final drive ratios"

Good on them for being up front about that. I have bought a number of bits from Dave Bean and I am very happy with their service, they don't even mind spending a lot of time on the phone just chatting about your project.Kiwi Cortina wrote:No. Dave bean said they had them but weren't good quality so better off getting them from the UK

mmmm. Retroford's 3.54 is about $310...add some shipping to that and it might be about the same as the ebay price.... and we don't know where the ebay parts were made.
Langlia...what engine do you have? tire size? O.D.?
I have the 2.3 with OD and 13" tires....with O.D., the donor car the 2.3 came out of... had about 3.0 rear end... 4 speed no O.D. I think 3.54 might be good for me.
