100 E details
100 E details
Hi all.
We have just started on a restoration of a Moonfleet special boat built sometime late 50’s.
I am trying to find as much information on the engine as possible, we have partially disassembled it to unsieze it, (it’s sat for over 30 years).
The numbers in the block are 100E-6017, 711 (the photo is too large to upload)
Any ideas on where I can get manuals, parts and specs would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Will

Re: 100 E details
Hi Will, I have a personal Ford 100E website in which I have sections with information on books and parts sources. I don't claim that it's necessarily complete nor up to date, but it may help. http://englishfords.great-site.net/

The Ford Motor Co publication called "Parts List with illustrations for the Anglia/Prefect/Popular/Escort/Squire/Thames" has exploded diagrams of all of the engine parts. That one comes up on eBay fairly often.

Re: 100 E details
I don't know the significance of the block numbers, I just looked at some photos of my 1958 engine and it seems to be 100E-6015 if I can read it correctly?
You can sometimes find a factory shop manual on Ebay, that is what I have always used.

Re: 100 E details
6015 was the basic part number for an engine block casting, it would be preceded by the specific engine type, e.g. 100E, 105E (original 997cc overhead valve engine), 109E (later 997cc overhead valve engine, also used for the 1298 cc and 1342cc engines). This should have 100E 6015 B cast into the left side rear low down. The actual engine number from which it might be dated is stamped, not cast, into the block casting above the dynamo bracket, right side upper looking from the flywheel forward to the water pump.
Re: 100 E details
Great, thank you all for your help.
If I can find the engine number, (for some reason when fitted to boats, they didn’t have them) does anyone one know where I can date it ?
Many thanks again.

I have a lot of the dates, at least to the middle of the months.
