Is Everyone On Vacation?

It's been awfully quiet here lately.

It has been golfing and general summer activities keeping me busy lately but I have also been busy with my new acquisition, a 1961 Prefect 107e. Here are a few photos of it. Now I have two of these cars in front of my house, it is entertaining to watch people do a double take as they walk past.

The 100e Anglia on the left is very stock with its 3 speed transmission and flat head engine. The 107e Prefect on the right has been lowered and has 5.5 X 13 inch wheels installed, the engine is a 1600 GT crossflow with a semi-close ratio gearbox.

Wish I could say it's been due to a vacation! Working 1.5 jobs, building a workspace in a shed for a new business I'm getting off the ground, on my only day off last week I spent bleeding the damn brakes on the mkii after replacing the brake sensor switch... it never ends. I need an 8th day of the week to actually enjoy some summer driving.

Just noticed the short bumper on the Prefect. Very neat.

The front bumper came with the car and it is interesting but I am not 100% sure that I will keep it that way?? I have a couple of sets of Lotus Cortina 1/4 bumpers so I might go that route, I also have a set of Bugeye Sprite bumpers that I might also use? Trial and error I guess.

L like that it exposes the curves on the bottom of the fender. It's a good look. Your choice of course.

The body curves on the front of a 100e are pleasing to the eye as are many of the vehicles that were designed in that period, I feel that the factory artists of the day designed the body shape and then the bumpers were later thrown on as an afterthought? I will experiment with it for sure, I will try the bugeye bumpers first as I already have them on the shelf with the mounting brackets. The mountings for Lotus 1/4 bumperettes will need a bit of my time to create so that is on the backburner for now.

It's very similar to a MK1 Consul, Zephyr shape, not surprisingly of course.
