Where are all the Classic Fords Hiding?

Post by Brett Wilkie »

I have been touring around the U.K. for over a month now and I keep my eyes open and camera ready for all the classic vehicles you might expect to find here. I did find some nice Escorts in the Beaulieu Auto Museum but that's to be expected, I am looking for the classics that are actually being used as drivers.
I have seen a lot of Morris Minors, Jaguars and others but hardly any old Fords and not a single 100e?? These are the only Ford classics that I have seen, aside from two Escorts that were moving faster than I could draw my camera. The old Ford Popular was in Tenby, Wales, the red Escort in Lymington and the Capri at Saundersfoot beach near Tenby. I did talk to the Capri owner and he mentioned that he has had the car since he was 18 years old.

These two are obviously not Fords but I was impressed by the fact that the owners are putting them to real use, the old Aston Martin was in Lymington and the old Bentley in Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight.
I will continue to keep my eyes open for the next week or so for those elusive Fords.

hi brett , I go back home to the uk just about every year for the goodwood revival always a lot of old fords lurking about in the car parks and there,s quite a few mk2 mk1 zephyrs/zodiacs/consuls still in use and of course the mk1 mk2 cortina's are still about , most of the 100e,s 105e,s pops/anglia,s/thames that are left from what I see these days have been modified with more modern engines or hotrodded/drag raced with V6/V8 engines ford pilots pop up for sale from time to time my dad always had those when I was very young often wanted to own one myself , I still have my lhd mk1 zephyr here in california sitting in the corner , I,ll be at the auction in November if youre there I,ll leave you a couple of weekend passes

Thank you Ray for the offer but I don't yet know what our plans will be the winter, or even if we will do a winter trip? I will be sure to let you know if we are coming down your way. We are currently in Beddgelert, Wales and the house we are renting is right next to a steam train line. I know that not everyone is a steam engine fan but we love watching the engine chug past a few times a day, I will ty and put a clip up on YouTube later.
